If a concern is raised, this does not automatically mean that you will be referred to a Fitness to Practise Panel.

The University policy specifically requires consideration of whether a concern would be better addressed through student support rather than a formal panel process.

An initial assessment may therefore consider:

  • what has happened;
  • the seriousness of the concern;
  • whether there is an ongoing risk;
  • whether this is an isolated or persistent concern;
  • your insight into what has happened;
  • any relevant personal circumstances;
  • support or adjustments that may be appropriate;
  • the requirements of your profession;
  • whether the concern can be appropriately managed without formal proceedings.
