The ability to engage with difference, challenge ideas constructively, and navigate disagreement respectfully is a skill that can be learned and developed.

The University of Wolverhampton's Student Life Mental Health and Wellbeing Team has developed a range of resources, workshops, and facilitated discussions through the WLV Mind and Mission Service to help students and staff build confidence in:

  • managing disagreement constructively
  • active listening and respectful communication
  • understanding different perspectives
  • navigating challenging conversations
  • developing self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • reflecting on personal assumptions and biases
  • building inclusive and respectful learning and working environments

These sessions are designed to support individuals and groups to engage positively with difficult topics whilst maintaining dignity, respect and professional conduct.
