Online harm can take many different forms.
It may include:
- cyberbullying;
- persistent unwanted messages;
- online harassment;
- stalking or monitoring;
- threats or intimidation;
- hate-related abuse;
- sexual harassment;
- pressure to send intimate images;
- sharing or threatening to share intimate images without consent;
- impersonation or fake accounts;
- publishing personal information without permission;
- account hacking or compromise;
- location tracking;
- misuse of shared accounts or devices;
- coercive control through technology;
- romance fraud;
- financial scams;
- blackmail or extortion;
- grooming or exploitation;
- coordinated harassment by a group;
- radicalisation or extremist grooming;
- another form of online behaviour that leaves you feeling unsafe.
Sometimes the online behaviour is part of something happening offline as well.
For example, online monitoring, repeated contact, location tracking or threats may form part of stalking, domestic abuse or coercive control.
