Some University courses prepare students for professions where there are additional expectations about conduct, competence, health, safety and professional behaviour.
If you are studying on one of these courses, being academically capable of completing your degree may not, on its own, be enough. You may also need to demonstrate that you are able to meet the standards expected by your profession and practise safely and appropriately.
This is often referred to as Fitness to Practise or professional suitability.
The University of Wolverhampton's Fitness to Practise Policy explains that a student's fitness to practise may be called into question where their:
- conduct;
- health; or
- competence
raises a serious or persistent concern about their ability or suitability to continue on a professional course.
