The Safeguarding Team can talk with you about what is happening and help understand your immediate and longer-term safety.

The conversation may explore:

  • how you are feeling now;
  • what thoughts you have been experiencing;
  • whether those thoughts have changed or increased;
  • what is making things especially difficult at the moment;
  • what helps you stay safe;
  • people you trust;
  • professional support you already receive;
  • whether urgent health or mental health support may be needed;
  • what could form part of a safety plan.

This is not about judging you or asking you to prove how unwell you are.

The aim is to understand your individual circumstances, your needs, your strengths and what will help keep you safe.

That reflects the approach promoted in Wolverhampton’s suicide-prevention model, which focuses on individual risk factors, needs, strengths, hope and enabling people to seek and accept support.
